As a Tool Install Assistant of our Fab Engineering department (FABENG), you will be responsible for the support of a smooth Tool Install. You will be there from tier-2 up until when the tool arrives, the move-inn is taking place and when the facilities are ready to connect. This is a shift function.

Our Fab Engineering team is responsible for various pilot production tools and devices, often first versions, sometimes even prototypes. Our equipment and process engineers intensively collaborate with process engineers and equipment manufacturers to identify, execute, and evaluate improvement opportunities on our unique pilot production tools. These highly motivated engineers identify preventative actions and assure the correct maintenance and repair of the equipment is guaranteed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Our process engineers maintain the processes and develop e.g. backup processes and perform process optimizations.

What will you do

The semiconductor industry is expanding and so is imec! Expansion typically means installing additional semiconductor tools. As  Tool Install Assistant of our Fab Engineering department (FABENG), you will be part of the driving force behind tool installations. Your goal is to support the tool installs and make sure we hit the install timeline with a minimum of hiccups. This means you will be responsible for: 
  • Executing and supporting hardware tasks within the Tool Installation team like e.g. finalizing the facility definition, tool and pedestal order and delivery, gas line qualifications, guiding the OEM install team, etc. 
  • Storing tools, spares and documentation of the hardware at the designated places. Making sure the install location is safe and tidy.  
  • You will work in a early-late shift regime with one weekend out of three.

Who you are

Education, Experience and Technical Competencies 
  • A bachelor degree or equivalent through experience in electromechanical engineering, electronics or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimal of 5 years of experience with semiconductor equipment: etch, deposition or diffusion tools. 
  • You are a self-starter; you know what is needed to get the job done.
  • Having multiple hardware tool installs in various fields is definitely a plus!
  • Strong safety and health awareness. You are familiar with last-minute-risk assessment methodology.
