What you will do

As program manager you will have the responsibility to manage and grow the Silicon Photonics projects portfolio. Furthermore, you will have project management responsibility. You will actively engage with customers to understand their needs. You will capture the trends and future industry needs, that will be used to upgrade our portfolio offering.  

  • You will work on identifying bottlenecks and find generic solutions to improve and upgrade our Silicon Photonics technology in view of next generations roadmap, in particular for novel high-speed modulators (SOH, LNO) and 3D packaging solutions (TSV, hybrid bonding). You will focus on integration method selection, technology qualification and supply chain enablement 
  • You will contribute to the operational plans by formulating resource and investment needs together with the technical experts, starting from the understanding of future demands and products  
  • You will take a prominent role in the definition and acquisition of new projects and this in alignment with our roadmap and our business strategy 
  • Your mission will be to understand the needs, define and follow up on customer specific projects. You will generate project proposals and execute bilateral and internal innovation projects from inception to delivery in agreement with customer request from the perspective of target timings, deliverables and costs. You will manage a broad projects portfolio by following-up on customer projects, ensuring timely deliveries within budget and with high quality standards to guarantee partner satisfaction 
  • You will be the preferred contact point between the customer, business development and the technical teams. You will generate the overall High-Level Plans and align with the different expertise centers for all resource requirements. You will drive the projects to be completed within time, costs and scope agreements. Your strong management skills will steer you to solve issues and only escalate adequately. 
  • You keep your level of scientific know-how up to date and benchmarks imec’s expertise and performance in your competence domain with the rest of the world.  
  • You will be part of the imec.IC-link sector PMO, focusing on projects leveraging imec developed technologies. You will interact daily with external foundries, design engineers, process engineers, test and reliability engineers. Good communication and interaction with the supporting expertise centers is a major requirement for this job.

Who you are

  • You have obtained a PhD degree in physics or electrical engineering. 
  • You have minimum 8-year experience in a semiconductor environment.  
  • A solid background and experience in Silicon Photonics is a must. 
  • Knowledge of optical test, electrical test and failure analysis is a significant asset. 
  • You are an enthusiastic team player with project management capabilities and show high level of independence. 
  • You have excellent English communication skills. 
  • You are willing to work in a highly dynamic and multicultural environment.  
  • This position is based in Leuven, Belgium. You either live in Belgium or are willing to relocate.
