Regional Managing Director imec Spain 

What you will do 

Supported by the Spanish central and regional governments, imec will drive innovation in a 300 mm semiconductor R&D pilot line in Malaga Tech Park.  We will be growing local expert teams in semiconductor process technologies developing chips for unmet needs in healthcare, AR/VR and industrial applications.  Through collaborations with academic groups and industry partners at international and local scale, we aim to transform disruptive ideas into semiconductor technology platforms to be leveraged by industry partners to advance and accelerate their product development and ignite new deep-tech ventures. We aim to support local start-ups in their growth trajectory by establishing our local iStart incubator. Through our collaborations with local academia, we will unlock disruptive innovation while actively contributing to growing the supply of trained semiconductor professionals for the increasing workforce demand from industry.   

Will you be our new Regional Managing Director to lead imec’s operations in Spain ? 

  • As a passionate and inspiring leader, you will grow a strong local team to run the imec Spain operations and ensure it meets its key growth objectives in terms of scientific, operational and business impact 
  • You are a true team player working with your peers in the senior leadership team of the imec R&D matrix and with the imec executive team to ensure strategic objectives are set, plans and resources to execute are in place  
  • You lead the day-to-day operations and project execution of the imec Spain team in coordination and close communication with internal and external stakeholders.  You interface with imec CFO and corporate legal team to ensure alignment of imec Spain with imec corporate strategy, policies, and business processes. 
  • Using your strong communication and networking skills, you expand and manage imec’s network in Spain with a diverse set of local, academic, industry, and international stakeholders, including technical subject matter experts, university faculty and staff, executive leadership, government officials. 
  • You foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement that inspires the imec Spain team and broader imec organisation 
  • You report to the COO in imec headquarters, Leuven, Belgium 
  • You interface with imec CSO on maximizing local impact, aligning the local and global goals and ensuring sustained regional and national government stakeholders’ support.

Who you are 

  • PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering with solid background in semiconductor process technologies 
  • Proven track record of 10+ years in leading high-performing scientific & engineering teams and pushing the boundaries of innovation in leading corporate or research organisation 
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively within a matrix organization 
  • Stellar communication and leadership abilities 
  • Integrity is one of your core values 
  • Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish
