What you will do
Purpose of the job
You will have responsibility for a specific spend area of the R&D equipment and materials and develop end-to-end best sourcing strategies. You will also create and lead value creation initiatives which improve quality of service and supply. Additionally, you will develop partnerships with strategic vendors to achieve quality and innovation targets.
You will partner closely with stakeholders from our Research & Development department, Business Development department, Legal, Finance and Export Control as well as partnering with external suppliers.
Typically reporting to
Reporting to the Procurement Manager – Direct categories, the category buyer R&D Equipment will develop sound and cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of equipment for R&D cleanroom and materials used in operational units.
Core relationships
Internal:
- Communicate on regular intervals with the operational managers to ensure an efficient flow of goods. Work closely with key stakeholders such as Legal, Finance and Business Development department to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the program and to ensure contract terms are favorable to imec
- Develop and implements procurement plans aligned with department strategies to support business needs.
- Proactively identify areas to enhance business opportunities, drive process improvement, and cost efficiencies
- Provide training/guidance to internal customers regarding goods and services purchasing policies and finance guidelines
- Manage the supplier qualification and annual evaluation program in accordance with the guidelines of QA requirements
- Ensure quality of procured items and manage supplier complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
External:
- Act as a point of contact between imec and suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers and identifying potential new suppliers based on project or operational requirements
- Understand business needs, source for solutions, drives RFX process, engage with suppliers and finalize the engagement into contractual agreements
- Support the public procurement team in public tender processes when required, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and requirements are fully captured.

Who you are
Typical education/expertise required
- Master's degree preferred, or Bachelor's degree with experience in engineering and, or Business Management.
Main requirements
- Proven experience in procurement with a track record of at least 2 years’ experience in Contract Management, leading different types of engagement and contracts
- Ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement plans with suppliers and stakeholders
- Self-motivated and self-managed
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent negotiation, intercultural, influence and problem-solving skills
- Creative thinker, with a desire and ability to look for better ways to approach issues and situations
- Strong team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members and stakeholders and the ability to work with global & local cross-functional teams
- Strong data analysis, management, presentation and reporting skills
- Fluent in English, and Dutch (optional)
- Strong ethical behavior and ability to deal with confidential information
