About imec Germany

The automotive industry is at a turning point with advanced chiplet technology paving the way for autonomous driving and connected vehicles. Imec and the State of Baden-Württemberg are establishing a joint project to support the local and international automotive industry in derisking and accelerating the introduction of automotive chiplets into manufacturing.

In our new Advanced Chip Design Accelerator (ACDA) competence center, based at the Innovation Park AI (IPAI) in Heilbronn, we will be pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and accelerating the future of automotive. By leveraging imec’s world-leading expertise in semiconductor technology and packaging, we will be building the chiplet-based solutions that will power the vehicles of tomorrow to be smarter, safer, and more efficient.

What you will do

You will work in the Product Engineering department, part of the DSRD unit of imec. Imec has extensive industrial experience, contacts with leading industrial foundries, and long-standing relationships with all the main EDA tool vendors and IP providers. This unit supports worldwide customers in the layout, prototype, fabrication and test of advanced electronic products.

As a Test Engineer for integrated circuit (ASIC) test solutions you will act as the technical support interface between our international customers and test partners. You will take up responsibility for all the technical aspects of the test solution, including characterization and qualification of our customer’s integrated circuits.

  • The definition and overall planning of the work packages of the different project stages, together with the Project Manager. 
  • Setting up the ASIC test solution with the test house. 
  • Discussing the ASIC prototype-to-production volume ramp plan with the customer including characterization & qualification.
  • Organizing volume production after the volume ramp phase. You propose cost improvement plans such as yield improvement plans, multi-site test solutions and different packaging options together with the customer and test house. 
  • Yield analysis of the volume production.

You will attend regular training courses to master the newest technologies related to the most advanced packaging and test methods.

Who you are

  • You have a Master’s degree in Electronics, preferably with more than 10 years of relevant experience in the areas of ASIC testing.
  • Experience with the most advanced ATE systems (Teradyne UltraFlex/Flex+ & Advantest 93K) is a must
  • Know how in the field of automotive or medical qualification flows is an asset. 
  • You have experience in project-based work.  
  • You are pro-active and customer focused.  
  • You like to take initiative and are very motivated to work within a team of engineers. 
  • Good knowledge of English is mandatory.  
  • You are willing to travel on a regular basis (1week/month) to our sub-contractors.
