Strategic Development Manager
What you will do
As Strategic Development Manager in imec's corporate strategy office, you play a key role in managing imec's internal investment portfolio. Together with two other strategic development managers, you manage ideas throughout the entire R&D lifecycle: you are responsible for helping to create the right environment and process to drive and inspire the submission of new research ideas, you manage the selection of investment decisions, you enable the teams for successful execution and prepare for successful transition from the R&D phase to valorization phase when the value inflection point is reached.
Your responsibilities include:
- Recognizing promising ideas, establishing a win-win between ideas of different groups and encouraging individuals to develop their ideas for entry into the research funnel.
- Creating ideation opportunities and coordinating and coaching research projects through a stage-gated enrichment process.
- Creating a sense of urgency and guaranteeing full transparency on the running projects. Therefore, you organize the follow-up and corporate reporting on the internal investment portfolio.
- Setting up the projects for success by strategically managing the valorization of the projects when they reach their value inflection point.
- Keeping up to date with new insights in innovation management and challenge the way of working with the goal to improve imec's innovation process.
- Managing long-term strategic relations within and outside imec.
- Supporting imec's PhD, postdoc and tenure track selection processes.
- Managing relations and collaborating with technical teams, business development, scientific leadership, the research community, market intelligence to build support for long-term research projects through the organization. You visit the relevant conferences to focus on specific areas of innovation at imec.

Who you are
- You are a technology enthusiast and holder of a PhD degree in sciences or engineering with experience in advanced semiconductor technology development, integration and realization of semiconductor-based devices.
- You have a keen interest in innovation management and driving technology to impact.
- You get energy from working with innovative teams and you can drive them to higher performance through a constructive and participative approach.
- Your enthusiasm stimulates people to pursue high-impact, high-gain research projects.
- You have strong English communication, presentation and leadership skills.
- You have a curious and critical mind that is eager to understand and challenge new concepts.
- You can manage a wide variety of technical topics simultaneously and are diligent in project follow-up and report-out.
