Project Engineer Building Automation (temporary assignment)

At imec the Project Engineer Building Automation plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing automated solutions for various projects within our organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, and you will manage the automatization part of the project. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in building automation technologies, programming experience and a proactive approach to process optimization.

The assignment

  • Provide specialized technical advice and support in industrial automation.
  • Lead the automation part of projects (facility installations in office building environment).
  • Prepare project plans, including milestones and deadlines.
  • Draft and/or check detailed specifications, user requirements and functional descriptions, bills of quantities, P&IDs and as-built documentation.
  • Design and implement automation solutions with a focus on PLC systems. (Knowledge of DCS systems is an asset)
  • Follow up actively on automation projects, ensuring compliance with set specifications and deadlines.
  • Maintain close contacts with suppliers, reviewing bids and selecting appropriate partners for automation components.
  • Responsible for the budget of automation projects, where cost control and optimization are essential.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • Communicate clearly on the progress of automation projects.

Required knowledge and skills 

  • Good knowledge of OT network construction and implementation.
  • Bachelor or Master in automation, energy technology, control technology, HVAC, electrical engineering, electromechanics, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Flexible and versatile professional with at least 3 years of experience in building automation.
  • Programming feels natural to you, and you have a passion for smart buildings and automation.
  • Strong communication skills, both internally and externally, with good insight into construction processes and parties involved.
