Senior Business Development Manager

Act to create meaningful collaborations that enable the Connected Computing/Automotive/Agrifood solutions of the future 

What you will do

In this job, you will be active in the imec business development team for the Connected Computing/Automotive Sensing/Agrifood domain, including contributing to market strategy, defining the offering, and turning this into customer collaborations to maximize impact. Your responsibilities will be: 

Shape imec’s go-to-market strategy for the Compute Technology & Systems domain, in close collaboration with imec’s ledership team, program directors and portfolio management, mapping research and solution roadmaps onto market needs for our AI algorithms, software, system models, simulation platform and digital twin technologies for radar, lidar, sensor fusion, wireless and Agrifood applications. 

  • Detect, track and quantify market trends and needs relevant towards imec’s Connected Computing/Automotive Sensing/Agrifood roadmap and offering definition. 
  • Define go-to-market approach per region that can link imec’s offering to the value chain of the potential customers. This includes the value proposition, including our
  • USP’s of the various imec technologies, the definition of the relevant target accounts in the different regions and the definition of the business strategy including relevant business models, customer pricing, IP models and legal frameworks. 
  • Implement & steer the go-to-market plan per region, including follow-up of KPI’s and objectives towards success. 

Convert the go-to-market approach into customer collaboration projects leveraging imec’s different business models, including its open innovation programs, bilateral projects, Low Volume Manufacturing, and IP licensing deals. 

  • Define and prioritize target customers and customer segments. 
  • Selection of the relevant offering, price setting, business model, IP model. 
  • Define marketing actions, together with the marketing Team, to support the go-to-market. 
  • Manage deal-negotiation and closing in collaboration with the technical, legal and IP teams. 
  • Represent the customer during the project execution phase. 

In this position you will work from different locations to connect with the different technical teams. Your base location can be our office at High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, in OnePlanet Research Center in Wageningen or at HQ in Leuven (Belgium).

Who you are

  • MSc degree in computer engineering, electronics or equivalent. PhD degree is preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing and/or business development, preferably in international wireless, automotive, IoT, or agrifood companies. You have a strong business insight and customer orientation.  
  • General knowledge of business models employed in algorithms, software, and system model selling. A good understanding of hardware, and software-hardware co-optimization is a plus. 
  • You have outstanding communication skills: customer-oriented and diplomatic.  
  • Relevant network and experience in a technical-commercial function. You can extend your internal and external networks and are able to talk and confer on technical, legal, and business-related matters.  
  • Able to adequately judge problem situations and opportunities, recognize priorities and act accordingly in a flexible manner.  
  • Able to handle the administrative part of the business development job, including reporting (e.g.. Miller Heiman), CRM, Meeting Minutes, Gap Analysis, Korn Ferry Sell and other sales tools. 
  • Team player, working closely with the technical teams, legal and IP team and the regional account teams. 
  • You enjoy regular traveling to wherever business opportunities arise (approx. 20%). 
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills in English; other European languages are an asset.
