R&D Hardware Engineer
What you will do
You will be part of the Lab Operations & Coordination department. As a member of our ULSO team (Ubiquitous Lab Support and Operations), you will play a key role in keeping imec’s labs outside the cleanroom up and running. As a Hardware Engineer of process and measurement labs, you are responsible to install, maintain, improve and repair the tools.
- You are the first point of contact when a tool/set-up arrives in the lab to foresee it for all needed facilities, taking all the imec procedures into account.
- You work in close cooperation with the researchers/scientists to let the tool or set-up working in the best way and look for improvement when needed.
- You proactively ensure safe working in the labs and support the team by flagging unsafe behaviour by involved lab users.
- You play an important role in organizing the labs in a professional way.
- You maintain stock for essential parts and order the needed materials.
- You help keeping the data platforms of the labs up to date.
- You are in close contact with facility engineers to let the things happening for your devices.

Who you are
- You have a bachelor’s degree with approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience (equivalent to a Master’s degree by experience) or a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering (also for starters).
- You are open to learn - on the job, from courses organized by imec or external.
- You have a solid background in mechanics, electricity and electronics, experience with working with chemicals and knowledge of vacuum technology is a plus. Hands-on experience with 3D drawing/printing can be helpful.
- You are eager to learn the extras.
