Python Developer & Photonic Device Testing Engineer (temporary assignment)

We are looking for a python developer with hands-on experience in photonic device testing to join our team. This flexible role involves both software development to automate measurement systems and hands-on testing of photonic devices at the coupon/wafer level.

The assignment

  • Python Development for Measurement Automation: Develop and optimize Python packages to automate photonic measurement systems and improve data handling processes for real-time data acquisition, storage, and analysis. 
  • Photonic Device Testing: Conduct hands-on testing of photonic devices at the coupon and wafer levels, including setup, measurement, and data analysis. Collaborate with engineers and scientists to ensure accurate and consistent testing procedures. 
  • Support & Collaboration: Work closely with the scientific and engineering teams to improve testing workflows and provide technical assistance in developing software that supports the testing and data analysis processes. 
  • Version Control & Documentation: Use Git for version control to manage software updates and testing projects. Ensure clear documentation of processes and workflows to facilitate team collaboration.

Required knowledge and skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with hands-on testing and measurement automation;
  • demonstrated experience with python package development;
  • strong experience with version control tools such as Git;
  • excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a strong attention to detail;
  • strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders;
  • experience with photonic device simulation and modelling, including experience with tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, JMP, and others is a plus.
