Privacy statement – imec community services

Interuniversitair Micro-Electronica Centrum vzw (hereinafter ‘IMEC’), Kapeldreef 75, 3001 LEUVEN, is responsible for the processing of your personal data.

This document contains information about how we process your personal data to provide you with certain services regarding the broader imec community, such as providing white papers, hosting events or webinars and organising initiatives to bring our valued partners together.

We value your privacy and process your personal information in accordance with the GDPR and other applicable privacy legislation. What personal data and why?

We collect your personal data, including contact information, professional information and dietary preferences/restrictions for the following purposes:

  • To provide you with the service(s) (e.g. to send the requested white paper, to register you for the event or webinar, to contact you in relation to the event or webinar etc.).
  • To send communications about IMEC breakthroughs and developments, events, white papers, webinars, etc. which we think are relevant to your interests.
  • To contact you regarding potential interesting business opportunities.
  • To send you the software you requested, and if needed, to contact you about this software.

We only collect personal data necessary to provide you with the service and rely on legitimate interest for these processing activities.

If you do not wish to be contacted about interesting events or business opportunities, you have the possibility to opt out for these e-mails in the respective communications.

Photography and video recording

At our events group or individual candid photographs or video recordings can be taken. These photographs and video images may be published in various media, such as social media, magazines, newspapers, etc. imec relies on the legitimate interest basis (i.e. promotion of the event, capturing the setting) for collecting, storing and processing this data. If you wish photographs and video recordings of yourself to be removed from our website, social networks and archive, please contact the organiser of the event.

With whom do we share your personal data?

The personal data that you provide us upon registering for communication purposes regarding IMEC breakthroughs and developments, an event, a webinar or downloading a white paper will be stored in our CRM system Eloqua.

We can also share your personal data with certain third parties, depending on the type of service(s) provided for an event:

  • Your personal data can be shared with service providers such as event hosting organisations, catering services, print service providers, communication and mailing services etc.
  • Photographs or video recordings made at an event are stored on Swivle.
  • Your contact information can be shared with partners of the event for their purpose of sending you marketing communications. If you do not wish your personal data to be shared with partners of the event, please contact the organiser of the event.  

We only transfer your personal data to third parties outside the European Economic Area (EEA) when this is necessary to provide our services. Third parties are always screened to ensure they handle personal information properly and necessary safeguards are in place to ensure compliance with the GDPR.

Storage and retention

Imec has appropriate technical and organizational measures in place which are incorporated in security policies to keep your data safe.

Your personal data will be kept for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which we are collecting your personal data.

Your rights

You can access, rectify or ask to delete your data that imec has collected for the purpose of this event, as prescribed by the GDPR. Simply send an email to website@imec.be to exercise your rights.
