Are we on the verge of a decisive breakthrough in proteomics? There are strong indications that we are: investments in the field are rapidly increasing, and technological advancements are progressing at an accelerated pace.

However, several challenges remain. Due to its staggering complexity, the proteome is much more difficult to digitize than the genome. Unraveling it requires a range of novel technologies that must be reliable, high-throughput, and sensitive. To bring these technologies into clinical use, they also need to be compact and suitable for mass production.
